Developed from experience: Empire jumping saddles for horse and rider

At Empire Saddles, we understand that in show jumping, no two horses or riders are the same. Our collection of jumping saddles combines comfort, quality, and freedom of movement for both horse and rider.

The collection consists of two models, each with its own tree shape and wool-flocked panels. The Dutch was developed for horses with average to high withers and features a semi-deep seat that provides the rider with a central, balanced position. The Roman was developed for horses with low to average withers and has a more open seat for riders who prefer to experience more freedom of movement.

Both models are designed as a twinflap with interchangeable knee and thigh rolls. This allows you, together with an Empire saddle fitter, to choose which model and which support best suit you and your horse.

The correct fit of the saddle is essential for your horse’s comfort and freedom of movement. Our jumping collection consists of two models, each with its own tree shape: the Dutch for horses with average to high withers and the Roman for horses with low to average withers.

Both models are equipped with wool-flocked panels, which can be adjusted by the saddle fitter. This allows the tree and panels to be optimally aligned with the horse’s anatomy. An Empire saddle fitter will assess which model and options are appropriate for your horse.

For the rider, the two models also each have their own character. The Dutch has a semi-deep seat that provides a central and balanced position, while the Roman has an open seat for more freedom of movement.

Both models are designed as a twinflap and feature interchangeable knee and thigh rolls. This allows you to choose what suits you best and what gives you optimal balance and control.

At Empire Saddles, we consciously choose wool-flocked panels. Wool can be adjusted by the saddle fitter and molds to the horse’s back during use. This allows the flocking to be fine-tuned whenever necessary.

Wool-flocked saddles do require regular maintenance. The flocking can change over time and must therefore be checked periodically and adjusted where necessary by a saddle fitter. This ensures the panels continue to fit the horse’s back correctly.

A saddle can only function properly if it is correctly matched to the horse. That is why all Empire saddles are equipped as standard with the TreeClix system, which allows the tree width to be precisely adjusted.

A horse’s body shape can change due to training, seasonal changes, age, or other factors. With TreeClix, the saddle fitter can adjust the tree width in 5 mm increments and test which setting fits best during a saddle check.

TreeClix makes these adjustments precise, symmetrical, and reversible, within the capabilities of the tree and the saddle. This provides the Empire saddle fitter with an additional way to correctly adjust the saddle even as the horse changes.

What do our saddle fitters say about Empire?

“Because Empire saddles has several models, each with their own tree shape, which are equipped with TreeClix as standard, it is now possible for me as a saddle fitter to help almost any horse get a well-fitting saddle. This combined with all the options available to the rider, these saddles are every saddle fitter’s dream!”
